Welcome to the ICT Youth Challenge

The Hot House ICT Youth Challenge 2009 - Rules and Regulations

The following rules and regulations are purely indicative, and may change at short notice.

1) The Youth Challenge is open to persons permanently resident in the Highlands and Islands areas aged up to 20 years old.

2) Each team must consist of a minimum of 3 persons and a maximum of 5 persons. Persons may drop out of a team and new persons added, so long as the total number remains within these limits.

3) However, at least two original members must always remain in a team until the Forum stage of the competition thereafter no changes will be permitted.

4) The judging panel will consist of relevant ICT industry representatives and our sponsors. The panel's decision will be final.

5) The clear intent is that you will keep full ownership of your idea, and advice will be available on issues such as intellectual property rights and patenting. The ICT Youth Challenge team will ensure, wherever possible, that steps are taken to protect your ideas IPR. Any third party individual or organisation that your team comes into contact with throughout the competition lifecycle will be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

6) Teams refusing to participate in Hot House activities may result in disqualification. This decision will be made at the discretion of the judges.

7) Persons under 18 participating in the Youth Challenge must have written consent from a parent/guardian before their application will be considered. On approval of successful applications, each team will be asked to produce a 3-minute presentation on their idea. The presentation should be submitted at least one week before the First Pitch.

8) Progression to subsequent stages after the Seed Idea will require your full team and adult contact to be available to attend throughout.

9) When you submit your application you will give us your personal details which we will hold onto safely.  Youth Challenge will never share this information with third party organisations. We may contact you in the future to let you know about other Youth Challenge related initiatives but if you don't want us to, just email us at teams@youth-challenge.co.uk and we won't!

10) Teams are free to submit as many ideas as they wish at the SEED IDEA stage of the competition and the judges will select the best idea to progress.  A maximum of two ideas per team will be allowed to progress to the First Pitch stage and thereafter only one.

11) The competition management team reserves the right to change the competition format and rules at any time without prior notification.
